Short Term Respite

Short Term Respite (STR) provides temporary, planned support for children and young people who require additional care. It offers families and caregivers a break while ensuring the young person is safe, supported, and meaningfully engaged. STR can occur in the home, in community settings, or in dedicated respite environments such as cabins, camps, or specialised accommodation.

Contact us to request bespoke STR – we have a variety of options available upon request.

Overview

Support Wellbeing

The purpose of STR is not simply “time away” but restorative support that reduces stress, builds confidence, and strengthens wellbeing for both the young person and their family.

STR Noosa Everglades
Kayaking & Camping

24th to 26th April

This short term respite experience offers a calm, supportive, and sensory considerate break in one of Queensland’s most pristine natural environments: the Noosa Everglades. Designed with the needs of autistic, ADHD, and otherwise neurodivergent youth in mind, the program blends gentle adventure and restorative downtime to create a safe and empowering getaway with neurokin.

Kayaking the Everglades

Kayaking supports proprioceptive and vestibular regulation through rhythmic paddling and confidence building as participants navigate calm waterways.

Social connections are created through shared experiences without forced interaction.

The Everglades’ mirrorlike waters and quiet channels make it an accessible and low pressure environment for beginners.
